Matured in five refill sherry butts, this unpeated single malt was distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery. We have bottled it at cask strength after the angels took their generous share. Distillation on Islay in the 1960s has become famed for producing magnificent spirit full of tropical fruit flavors, making whiskies like this an incredibly rare treat. A independent bottling from Speciality Drinks of a mystery 45 year old Islay malt, perhaps from a distillery near Port Askaig on the north east shores of Islay.... whilst younger releases of this spirit were rumoured to be Caol Ila, speculation abounds that this is actually from the other distillery by Port Askaig, BunnahabhainFive sherry butts were married together to produced this exceptionally well aged Islay single malt.
