First released in 1927 to celebrate 100 years of Grand Marnier’s production, this bottling is an upscale version of the classic orange and Cognac liqueur we know and love.
Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire uses a greater proportion Cognac from highly lauded Fine Champagne region of Cognac. The emphasis is very much upon the Cognac with this bottling, as it contains far more of the stuff than the standard Grand Marnier Rouge. Whilst Rouge is made with 51% Cognac and 49% Orange Liqueur, Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire is made with 82% Cognac and just 18% Orange Liqueur.
The result is a liqueur rich in the flavours of aged Cognac, with notes of dried fruits, tobacco smoke, oak, toffee, berries and honey, alongside touches of candied orange peel and Earl Grey tea.
A rather wonderful liqueur, this is best enjoyed either neat or on the rocks.
