Product Overview
Cihuátan was an ancient Mayan city that was granted riches and fertility by a goddess who took the form of a nearby mountain to watch over the sugar cane fields. The name itself is a reference to this legend and translates to "the land beside the sleeping woman". That's quite a backstory! Here's another shocker: Ron de El Salvador Cihuátan is the first Rum distillery in El Salvador. Dedicated to sustainability, Master Blender Gabriela Ayala crafts delicious Spirits, each expression paying tribute to a different Mayan god.
Tlaloc is the Mayan god of rain that was symbolized by the color blue, extracted from the Indigo flower. This is where Cihuátan Indigo finds its inspiration. The Añejo Rum was aged in the Cihuátan valley for at least 8 years in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, producing an extremely versatile expression that's equally suited for sipping or cocktails. Vanilla, chocolate, and nutty notes stand out in this unique and award-winning 80-proof Rum.
Nose: It's an inviting nose with vanilla and Cappuccino aromas. There's a distinct nuttiness with hints of citrus.
Taste: It's sweet and nuanced on the palate with vanilla, creamy caramel, toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, lemon zest, and lemongrass notes.
Finish: The finish is smooth, satisfying, and pleasantly sweet with lingering notes.
