Marietta utilizes the old vine pedigree of their fruit from across Sonoma and Mendocino counties to make a wine of substance and value that defies modern convention. This exuberantly bistro-styled wine has a dedicated following, but is also finding appeal with a new generation of savvy wine drinkers.
San Francsico Chronicle writer Jon Bonne explains it best in his 2013 book, The New California Wine: "It's immediately evident how much Old Vine Red trumps mass-market competitors that cost only a couple bucks less. It tastes like classic old-fashioned California table red, robust in that Zinfandel way, but a far cry form the generic and sugary confections against which is competes."
