Product Overview
In 1968, Harry See planted the Silverado Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the next two decades with careful vine selection and cultivation, the Silverado Clone emerged becoming the only Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon designated as a “Heritage Clone”, by the University of California, Davis. Each year, they honor this select clone designation with SOLO.
Vintage Notes: From abundant winter rains to cool spring weather, warm summer temperatures and October’s wildfires, 2017 is a memorable vintage. Plentiful winter rains helped refresh our vines and led to a cool, mild spring. Due in part to these warmer temperatures, 90% of Napa Valley’s grape tonnage was harvested before the wine country wildfires began. Based on Silverado’s house wine style, we typically pick early and were fortunate to have 100% of our fruit harvested with no smoke impact.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of dark cocoa, ripe raspberry, and flint/mineral notes open up to sweet ripe plum, black cherry, and an oak expression of lightly toasted brioche. Full-bodied, exuberant plum and red cherry fruit flavors without a hint of the irrational. Cocoa and a hint of anise join the fruit in an elegant balance along with the oak, acid, and tannin. Supremely focused, but generous with a long finish.
