A rather unusual and unique Italian liqueur, which uses artichoke as its primary flavoring.
Cynar is a distinctive Italian Amaro made from an infusion of artichoke and 13 carefully selected herbs and plants. It gets its name and distinctive flavor from artichoke leaves.
Cynar is bittersweet with herbal notes including dried fruit hints, rounded by a caramel smoothness. The drink possesses a savory, slightly pickled note, with touches of nuttiness, tomatoes, bittersweet spices, red fruit, herbs, quinine, caramel and vegetable.
In Italy this is usually served over ice with a slice of citrus, but you also find it served with orange juice in Central Europe, or with soda water.
