With phenol levels in excess of 170 ppm, Ardbeg Hypernova has a nose of creosote with soot and tar, the company reports. On the palate, a peppery mouthfeel leads into sweet chocolate, peppermint, peat smoke, bitter almonds and burst of spices like aniseed and clove. The finish has heavy smoke, before returning to earthy notes of roasted coffee and smoked heather.
