St Bernardus Abt 12 Oak Aged is brewed with the same recipe as the regular Abt 12 and then matured for 6 months in Oak Calvados barrels before it is bottle conditioned. This maturation on oak kegs gives the beer a deeper and richer taste.
St Bernardus Abt matured for 6 months in Oak Calvados barrels. It pours deep brown with a thick beige head.
Nose: Light weird herbs, brown sugar, sweet, light soap, brown banana...
Taste: Sweet malt, brown sugar, dried fruit, yeast, oak, caramel, cheery and cognac.
Body: Full body with a great, crisp, carbonation. A very very nice brew.
