After Nikka's 21 year old whisky won "World's Best Blended Malt" in 2010, they have released a few more bottles for sale, because it was out of stock for years.
The complexity of spice and nuance on the palate of the 21 year is incredible -- rich, round fruit, cocoa, exotic spices, and even a hint of soy sauce -- and the finish goes on forever.
Nose:Plenty of oak influence with notes of prunes and soy sauce. Cocoa, espresso beans, almost a touch of anise.
Palate:Spices, black pepper, loads of tangy sherry, hints of turmeric and other spices. Then ground ginger, mixed peels, hints of marmalade.
Finish:Long, good oaky grip with a perfect balance of spice.
